Jamison Henry entered the abbey as a postulant on Feb. 7. An Indiana native, Jamison will join Gethsemani’s novice and two other postulants in the novitiate.
Postulancy is the first step in monastic formation. After six months, Jamison can request to be accepted as a novice. At that point, he will take a monastic name and habit, be addressed as “Brother” and begin taking on liturgical duties.
After two years in the novitiate, novices can request to take simple vows for one year, which are then renewed for a total of three years before final solemn vows.
Please join your prayers to ours for Jamison as he discerns God’s call.
